World's biggest pork producer jumps into plant-based proteins

The world's biggest pork maker is getting into the plant-based protein business. Smithfield Foods is releasing a new line of soy-based products, including burgers, meatballs and breakfast patties. Smithfields is following other meat producers in embracing meatless products. A recent Barclays report estimates the plant-based category could capture as much as 10% of the global meat market in 10 years.

Shoe brand Allbirds is getting into the apparel world with a line of socks. The new socks will all be made from sustainable materials, just like its lineup of shoes. Allbirds says it is releasing three styles of socks, priced between $12 and $16. The company was recently valued at $1.4 billion.

Snap has announced its newest model of spectacles, with an added HD camera for depth perception. The company says it will be a limited release and marketed for "fashion-forward" creative types. The augmented reality glasses will go for $380.
