World's oldest yoga teacher, of White Plains, turns 101

The White Plains resident who holds the Guinness World Record for world’s oldest yoga teacher has now celebrated her 101 birthday.
Tao Porchon-Lynch discovered yoga as a child growing up in the French colony of India.
After moving to America and working as a model and actress, Porchon-Lynch began teaching yoga. She has now been teaching for more than 60 years. She still teaches classes at her studio in Hartsdale.
The Guinness Book of World Records named her the world’s oldest yoga teacher in 2012, when she was 94 years old.
She says that practicing yoga, because of the focus on proper breathing and posture, is the secret to her longevity.
She says she has an unusual diet that works for her. She never drinks water and instead drinks fruit juice, she says. She says she eats mostly fruits and vegetables.
