Greenburgh voters to decide town supervisor for 1st time in over a decade

Greenburgh voters will have a choice to decide who will be their next town supervisor for the first time in more than a decade.

Independent candidate Lucas Cioffi is challenging 28-year Democratic incumbent Paul Feiner in November's general election.

The West Point graduate, Iraq War veteran, software engineer and father of two says it's time for a change.

"I believe we're going to have all the momentum on our side because we're running against a record that has been stagnant, that no one has been competing against for 12 years,” says Cioffi.

Feiner says he welcomes the competition.

"I'm thrilled. I think there should be contested elections, and I think that it's good for democracy,” says Feiner.

Cioffi is running on a platform focused on transparency and community participation. He believes the town needs improvement in both areas.

"They claim to be transparent, they use that word often. But there is another level of authentic transparency where you don't come in with your agenda, you come in with the information,” says Cioffi.

Feiner, who is often seen driving around town in a car with a poster proclaiming it the "mobile problem solver," disagrees with the assessment.

"I send out daily updates on the town e-list, advising people of virtually everything that's happening,” says Feiner.

The longtime incumbent and the political newcomer will face off in the general election on Nov. 5.
