The United States Coast Guard has recovered the body of a man who went missing while kayaking in the Delaware Bay in Cumberland County.

The man, who has not been identified, was reported missing just after midnight Tuesday after he went kayaking in the river the previous day.

A search for the kayaker spanned 500 square nautical miles.

“We extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends impacted by this loss," said Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay commander Capt. Scott Anderson in a statement.

Authorities say the man was wearing a camouflage life jacket.
