Bridgeport's chief of police has fired an officer following a new sexual assault charge.
Officer Steven Figueroa was arrested in Shelton last month after allegedly sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend. It was the fourth time in two years Figueroa was accused of domestic violence.
Figueroa was originally put on administrative leave without pay.
Chief Armando Perez said it was clear Figueroa "violated his oath and is wholly unfit to serve as a police officer."
