Sweet retirement: Former NYPD sergeant thrives in cheesecake business

A former NYPD police sergeant from Orange County is enjoying the sweet taste of retirement by making cheesecake.
Peter Brown, 64, otherwise known as “Grandpa Moustache,” retired in 2005. Since then, he has won the top prize for best cheesecake for the last three years at the New Jersey State Fair.
Business is taking off at his Washingtonville shop, Grandpa Moustache’s Cheesecakes on West Main Street. That’s where Brown takes orders and bakes for about a dozen restaurants.
"If you have a passion for it, do it,” he told News 12. “I never expected to do something like this."
