Twelve women have stepped forward to claim they were sexually abused decades ago by a school official at the New York School for the Deaf in Greenburgh.
A lawsuit alleges a dorm supervisor at the school sexually abused 12 former students on a daily basis and that the school’s administration did little to nothing to stop the ongoing abuse.
The lawsuit was filed in the state Supreme Court in Westchester Wednesday.
The plaintiffs’ attorneys said the sexual abuse happened back in the '70s and '80s at the New York School for the Deaf in Greenburgh and included girls as young as 4 years old.
The 12 women are now able to seek legal action because of the passage of the New York Child Victims Act, allowing decades-old sex abuse cases to be litigated despite statutes of limitation.
The lawsuit alleges Joseph Casucci, who served as their dorm supervisor, would molest the 12 young girls on a daily basis, and school officials failed to protect them.  The school quietly fired Casucci in 1979, and the sexual abuse was never reported or investigated by police. Casucci died in the early 2000s.
The attorney for the New York School for the Deaf tells News 12 that the school is doing everything it can to research the facts and respond to the allegations, but it is unable to comment because of ongoing litigation.
