Police: Man struck by vehicle on Yonkers Ave. seriously injured

A vehicle headed eastbound on Yonkers Avenue Friday morning around 7:40 a.m. struck a pedestrian who allegedly stepped onto the roadway, police say.

News 12 is told the accident happened right by the Yonkers Gateway Motel. The pedestrian was struck by a female driver, who police say is in her 50s.

The male pedestrian suffered serious head and internal injuries.

Traffic was shut down in both directions near Wasylenko Lane after the accident for about two hours.

Police say the driver remained on the scene. No charges have been filed against her at this time.
