A Wappingers Falls woman says she caught a local official trying to one-up his competition this Election Day by stealing campaign flyers.
Doorbell video allegedly shows Wappingers Falls Highway Superintendent Vincent Bettina taking his opponent’s campaign pamphlets from a voter’s front door.
The homeowner, who wants to stay anonymous, says Bettina then knocked on the door and left his own flyers after there was no answer.
The homeowner says that hours prior to his arrival, a campaign volunteer for Bettina’s opponent, Michael Sheehan, had left flyers at her door. Sheehan happens to be an employee for the Highway Department working under Bettina.

The homeowner says she feels violated that someone would take her property without permission.
News 12’s initial call out to Bettina was answered but abruptly cut off, with no returned calls after repeated attempts.
The homeowner says she is working with law enforcement and considering pressing charges. She says it’s not only theft, but a violation of election law.
