Police in Linden say that a passenger of a vehicle was killed after the driver struck a parked tractor-trailer.

The accident happened just before 1 a.m. on the 1100 block of West St. George Avenue.

According to preliminary reports, a 2002 Lexus sedan was traveling east when it struck a tractor-trailer parked on the side of the roadway.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old man from Elizabeth, was transported to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

The passenger, a 41-year-old man from Elizabeth, was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

West St. George Avenue was closed in both directions, between North Stiles Street and Rahway Avenue in Rahway, until around 5 a.m.
