Officials: Off-duty NYPD officer dies in single-car crash in Manhattan

Officials say an off-duty NYPD officer died in a car crash in Manhattan early Saturday morning.
They say the car was driving northbound on FDR Drive and East 20th Street around 2:30 a.m. when it lost control and struck a jersey barrier and a pedestrian foot bridge.
Officials say the 25-year-old officer was pronounced dead on the scene. They say another man and a woman, also 25, were in the car at the time of the accident and sustained serious injuries.
Both were transported to Bellevue Hospital in critical but stable condition.
