A Scarsdale Catholic school is facing multiple lawsuits filed under the Child Victims Act.
The lawsuits all name the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Scarsdale, the New York Archdiocese and Edwin Gaynor, a former sports coach at the Catholic school.

David Fox is one of five former students who filed lawsuits claiming Gaynor molested them in gym class during the 1960s. Fox claims to have told school officials about the incident. Instead, he says the monsignor called him a liar and threw Fox out of his office.

Fox's attorney, Barbara Hart, says he and the other alleged victims were between the ages of 8 and 14 years old.

"These are all adult men that you can see them mentally transporting themselves back to these very dark moments as children,” she says.

Within the last 10 years, Hart says Gaynor sent a letter to another alleged victim reminiscing about his days as a coach. The letter allegedly talks about the “great memories” they had and the wonderful times he had coaching him and the others.

"The letter for that particular client was very jarring, very disturbing and fraught with a deeper meaning that Gaynor was coming to grips with his own behavior,” says Hart.

As an attorney, Hart says she can see how difficult reliving the memories can be as her clients travel back to the time they were vulnerable young boys.

The archdiocese had no comment on the lawsuits.
