The parents of the hockey players accused of using anti-Semitic slurs to an opposing team say they are taking the situation seriously.
They say that the North Park coaching staff had the kids skate from one end of the rink to the other for about an hour as a punishment for what happened Sunday.
Parents added that they are multiple kids on their team who are Jewish too.
As News 12 has reported, parents of the players on the Scarsdale Youth Hockey team reported bullying by the North Park opponents. Scarsdale players said they were berated with phrases like "go back to synagogue," and "disgusting Jews."
News 12 reached out North Park's coach, but he refused to comment.
The North Park Hockey Board said in part, "We have no tolerance for hate or discrimination at North Park...We are going to take this moment to educate our players about an important issue, as this is clearly about much more than hockey."
The president of the hockey league's Hudson Valley region said he will not hesitate to discipline anyone with the proper evidence.
