The Town of Ramapo is giving back this holiday season by treating veterans to a Thanksgiving Day meal.
Dozens of veterans showed up at Sloatsburg Village Hall this weekend to get a free turkey dinner and a food basket filled with all the trimmings.
"Volunteers have come and packed up full dinners, turkeys, stuffing, vegetables, potatoes, desserts and they're being given out to hundreds of veterans and their families that have come to participate," says Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht.
The event was sponsored by the Town of Ramapo, the Village of Sloatsburg, the Italian American Council and Veterans Angels Organizations. "It just put a good feeling in my heart knowing that I can pay back the veterans who helped us so much and earned us our freedom,” one volunteer told News 12.
