Meet the teen sports reporter who’s scoring big-name interviews

When the New York Red Bulls were giving out media credentials this year, they received an application from Christopher Dailey.
Dailey writes for a sports blog called “The Sports Court.” It is a blog that features Dailey’s interviews with professional soccer and hockey players, along with some editorials.
Dailey was approved for the media pass, but when he went to go pick it up Red Bulls officials were very surprised -- Dailey is just 13 years old.
“When I walked in there they were kind of confused at first because they didn't know I was a kid,” he says.
After a little bit of head-scratching, Red Bulls officials gave the Wall Township eighth grader the “OK” for his press pass and he went to work.
“I actually got to interview Tim Howard at his final game at Red Bull Arena. which is his hometown arena,” Dailey says.
The teen says that he has learned one of life’s biggest lessons – persistence pays off.
“Not everything is going to work out, but eventually something’s going to happen and that can lead to a lot of things,” he says.
Dailey recently snagged one of the biggest interviews of his budding career – a sit-down with New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley.
“What were your two years at Penn State like after your freshman year? What did it teach you?” Dailey asked Barkley.
Barkley replied, “It taught me how to work. The four core values at Penn State, one of the main ones was work ethic.
Dailey says that he felt relaxed during the interview. But says that it was a bit weird to see himself on television later.
In addition to his blog, Dailey also covers sports for the Wall High School student newspaper, even though he won’t be enrolled there until next year.
