Man fatally struck by a NJ Transit train

A man was fatally struck by a train in Rockland County this morning

Police say a male in his late 40s was hit by a NJ Transit train at the Spring Valley station around 11:10 a.m.

It is unknown why the man was trespassing on the tracks.

Service was suspended in both directions for hours on the Pascack Valley line between Pearl River and Spring Valley. It has since resumed full service.

The investigation is being handled by MTA police.
