Fire razes home in Old Westbury; 150 firefighters respond to blaze

A home in Old Westbury was destroyed by a fire Saturday morning.
Flames shot out the top of the home on Quail Run as dozens of firefighters worked to stop it from spreading.
Investigators say the fire was called in just before 9 a.m. to the Roslyn Fire Department. When they arrived, they were faced with heavy fire and lots of smoke.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's office says 17 departments responded. They believe the fire started in the back of the home, and that one of the homeowners was inside at the time.
There were no injuries reported.
Firefighters say the cold forced them to rotate crews, and that multiple ladder trucks were needed to ensure they had plenty of water.
It’s not yet known what sparked the fire.
