Local singers bring 'Opera Under the Arch' to NYC

A group of singers is proving that you don't need pricey tickets or black-tie attire to enjoy opera.
Of all the sounds echoing through the streets of New York City, one often prompts people to stop, look and listen.

Pianist Colin Huggins and Baritone Sung Shin have been performing together at Washington Square Park for six years.
Shin, a Manhattan School of Music student from Manhasset, says the collaboration began with a chance meeting in 2013.

Today, Huggins and Shin are the co-producers of "Opera Under The Arch.”
Beneath the historic marble arch in the heart of Greenwich Village, they've discovered a stage ready made for their act.

A total of 80 professional and student singers give their time and talent to "Opera Under the Arch,” free of charge.
