Cardinal Timothy Dolan attended a Mass at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights Saturday, one week after the church was targeted in what officials believe was a hate-filled rampage.
The criminal acts began on Jan. 4 when the windows were smashed at St. Patrick's and other houses of worship.
As word spread that Cardinal Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, would lead the Mass at the church Saturday, many said they felt a renewed sense of hope in the face of hatred.
Yorktown police and the FBI are investigating the recent vandalism as hate crimes. They include four shattered glass doors at the Yorktown Stage and a menorah toppled at Veterans Field. Another damaged menorah was found in Mohegan Lake.
Investigators released a blurry photo of a black four-door sedan seen leaving one of the crime scenes.
Crime Stoppers of New York is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the conviction of the culprits.
