Police: Queens man tried to scam Floral Park woman out of thousands of dollars

Police say a Queens man tried to scam a Floral Park woman out of thousands of dollars.
Nassau police say Ahmaad Moore, 31, called the 77-year-old victim on Wednesday, claiming that her granddaughter had been arrested following a car crash and needed $9,800 for bail.
The victim handed over the money, but two days later received a second call demanding $19,000 to pay for injuries sustained in the fake car crash.
Police say the victim then became suspicious and called police, who helped arrange a meeting with Moore and arrested him.
Moore is charged with grand larceny. According to the attorney this is Moore's first offense. The victim now has an order of protection against Moore.
He was arraigned Saturday at the Nassau County District Court and his next court appearance will be on Jan. 23. If he does not show up, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.
