A male pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Greenburgh this afternoon, according to Greenburgh police.
The initial investigation into the incident appears to show that he was trying to cross Tarrytown Road and was struck by a vehicle heading east.
Police say the driver remained on the scene. The incident took place at approximately 12:05 p.m.
The victim was taken to Westchester Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. His name has not yet been released, pending notification from his family.
Greenburgh police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Detective Division at 914-989-1725.
The incident marks the eighth pedestrian-involved crash in Greenburgh since September 2018. On Thursday, a 14-year-old Edgemont High Student was struck by an SUV in the area of S. Central Avenue and Underhill Road. He is expected to be OK.
Back in November, a woman was killed near Fort Hill Road. Then earlier this month, 57-year-old Sandy Dekoubia was hit by an SUV as she was crossing the Bronx River Parkway at Fischer Lane.
The Town of Greenburgh recently released several ideas on how they're planning to keep their residents safe, including education initiatives, digital speed signs and legislation for speed cameras. Town Supervisor Paul Feiner also told News 12 he'd also like to see the installation of red-light cameras.
