Rockland CC explores undiscovered atrocities against Jewish people in Ukraine

To mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, a new exhibit at Rockland Community College explores the atrocities against Jewish families before death camps even opened.
The exhibit is called the Holocaust by Bullets, focusing on the forgotten history of the Holocaust, bringing to light the 1.5 million Ukrainian Jews gunned down and buried in ditches during World War II.
The unmarked mass graves were brought back to life by Father Patrick Desbois, who dug up the truth. In his book, the Catholic priest details a forgotten chapter of the Holocaust. To date, over 2,700 mass killing sites have been uncovered.
"They went like sheep sometimes because they were so frightened, they were already defeated emotionally," says Paul Galan, president of the Holocaust Museum.
For one survivor, the new exhibit brought up frightening childhood memories. The display opened during what's been a cold climate in the Hudson Valley -- from an attack in Monsey to vandalized memorials.
