“The template worked in Rockland County last time with the measles,” says Rockland County Executive Ed Day. “The template will beat everything that gets thrown at us."

Day tells News 12 it's a "how-to" template of tracking down and monitoring people to see if they were sick or possibly exposed to the measles. As News 12 previously reported, Rockland recorded more than 300 cases of the measles it last year - one of the largest areas of the outbreak in the country.

With COVID-19 cases increasing over the bridge in Westchester, officials in Rockland want the public to know that they are ready to apply their knowledge to this new threat.

"The most important thing I can convey to them is Rockland County is ready,” says Day.

Day says he has been talking around the clock with all levels of government, including the CDC.

News 12 is also told the county's Health Department is communicating and informing local health care providers, schools, volunteer emergency services and police of the latest COVID-19 developments.

Executive Day wants to remind people that the flu also remains a huge threat as it continues to kill more people across the country.

Rockland residents can stay up-to-date by visiting the county's Health Department website, where a special coronavirus/COVID-19 page has been created.
