Officials warn public of coronavirus-related scams

Officials across the Hudson Valley are warning of price gouging and potential scams related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
In Rockland County, the district attorney is offering up these tips:
  • Beware of emails claiming to be from the CDC or experts saying they have information about the virus.
  • Consult a medical professional for questions about prevention and treatment.
  • Don't pay unusually high prices for food, drinks and emergency and medical supplies.
  • Do your own research before donating to a charity.
If you see anything or fall victim to any of these scams, you can contact the Rockland County Consumer Protection line at 845-364-3901.
