World Update: No new cases in China, deadliest day yet in Italy
There is mixed news around the world as countries battle the coronavirus pandemic.
The Johns Hopkins University heat map is showing there are now about 220,000 cases worldwide and about 9,000 deaths.
CORONAVIRUS TRACKER - Cases in the tri-state area
On the hopeful side, about 85,000 people have recovered, including the first person on our state to contract the virus - a health care worker in New York City.
And for the first time since the crisis began, China is reporting no new cases.
Italy, the epicenter of the outbreak in Europe, just had its deadliest day yet as the situation continues to deteriorate. There were nearly 500 new deaths in the past 24 hours.
Hard hit hospitals are overwhelmed as packed hospitals run out of room.
Data shows the U.S. is about two weeks behind Italy in the number of cases.
An American in Italy is sending a warning back home. "They're keeping crematoriums open 24/7 and they've had to start stacking coffins in churches while they wait to cremate people. …People are dying alone. Their relatives can't come see them because it's dangerous," says Rachel Buchholz.
The United Kingdom is considering a partial lockdown in London, and the army may be deployed to help enforce it. England's Queen Elizabeth will temporarily move to Windsor Castle a week ahead of schedule and will likely stay there beyond Easter in April due to the outbreak. The 94-year-old's representatives also said that, after consulting with medical advisers and the government, upcoming public events with large numbers of people  will be canceled or postponed.
