Dozens of people were outside enjoying the warm breeze, especially at Valhalla’s Kensico Dam Plaza.
However, residents are worried that parkgoers aren’t enforcing the social-distancing rules.
“There is an urge when you see someone you know, you forget sometimes 6 feet. My wife and my father and I have been very respectful of that, but we’ve seen some people relaxed, whether it's through play or whether it's just working out together,” says Ryan Ewers, of Elmsford.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer expressed concerns with socializing and crowding at county parks, such as the Kensico Dam. He warned that if it becomes an issue, he may consider shutting down all county parks.
Bronxville’s police chief sent out a robocall to residents urging them to take social distancing seriously, as an 18-year-old resident battle the virus.
"My frustration has quickly turned to anger. Just two days after my appeal to self isolate and observe social distancing. The village was again crowded with people..." he says.
As the world battles a highly contagious invisible enemy, leaders continue to encourage people to do their part to flatten the curve.
