EASTCHESTER - Students from the Tuckahoe School District paid tribute today to local veterans just ahead of Memorial Day.

Students from the William E. Cottle Elementary School and the Tuckahoe Middle and High schools joined forces to remember the real reason to celebrate the holiday.

Children waved American flags, sang patriotic songs and told the crowd why they are thankful for the people who serve their country.

Veterans who attended the event say they were amazed to see how their courageous acts influenced the students' lives and their futures.
