Students at Suffolk County Community College’s culinary arts school continued a tradition Wednesday of cooking up Thanksgiving meals for Long Islanders in need.
Students volunteered their time to make about 200 dinners.
“It's fabulous on all levels,” says program director Laureen Gauthier. “We are contributing to the community, giving our students a chance to volunteer. It’s a fabulous day.”
In all, the students prepared 20 turkeys, 100 pounds of mashed potatoes, 50 pounds each of green beans and stuffing and 5 gallons of gravy.
The meals were served Thursday night at the A.M.E. Zion Church in Greenport by the Community Action Southold Town, group, also known as CAST.
