Employees for a Con Edison subcontractor held a demonstration Wednesday, calling for better pay and more benefits.

The employees work for San Mateo Construction Corporation, which provides traffic control for Con Edison. The utility company also controls the employees' paychecks.

Workers at the rally say many of them have been working with the company for years and have never seen a raise. The company says they sometimes receive their invoices from Con Edison up to a year late.

A spokesperson for Con Edison says "This is a dispute between San Mateo's workers and their management. We've made other arrangements so that our construction work will not be affected." San Mateo says they will pay their workers the best possible wages and not rely on Con Edison.
