Survivors speak about Holocaust in White Plains
As people around the world prepare to recognize Holocaust Rememberance Day, a group of White Plains Jews who lived through the Holocaust shared their stories of tragedy, faith and survival Sunday.
Stefan Weinberg, director of the Purchase-based Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center, says he's been telling his survival story for nearly 40 years and this time was no easier. Weinberg survived five concentration camps and made a dramatic escape from Hitler's Nazi soldiers, running away and then taking refuge in a barn.
Weinberg says his wife is a Holocaust survivor as well, who spent time in the Auschwitz concentration camp. The two have been married for 65 years, and continue to tell their story in schools around New York.
