MOUNT VERNON - A Mount Vernon man is under arrest for allegedly shooting one of his employees to death.

Police say Dontan Jenkins, 32, and the 47-year-old victim worked together as security guards at an apartment complex on South Ninth Avenue in Mount Vernon. Witnesses say they heard screaming and arguing before hearing gunshots.

According to police, the two got into an argument and Jenkins felt disrespected. He allegedly came back to the apartment around 4 a.m., when the victim was working a double shift, and shot him.

Jenkins has a prior arrest record, including drug and assault charges. A gun was recovered at the scene.
