WOODBURY - A Manhattan fashion designer accused of leaving her one-year-old son locked in a hot car appeared in a Hudson Valley court Wednesday night.

Sylvia Harden, a designer for Ralph Lauren, entered a tearful not-guilty plea inside Woodbury Town Court.

The 35-year-old allegedly left her toddler in her car at the Woodbury Common Outlets. Police say the child seemed scared and had been in the car with the windows cracked for at least 15 minutes. The temperature was around 80 degrees.

After the incident, Harden’s son was taken into protective custody. He has since been returned to her.

She faces a misdemeanor for endangering the welfare of her child.

Harden will be back in Woodbury Town Court at the end of August.
