Transit officials are telling drivers to prepare for a toll hike on the Tappan Zee Bridge, which goes into effect Sunday, Jan. 4.
The increases are part of a five percent toll increase on the entire New York State Thruway. The toll for the Tappan Zee increases to $5 for a round trip. While still cheaper, an E-ZPass round trip ride over the bridge will now cost $4.75.
Some drivers who use the Tappan Zee say between delays and the decaying condition of the bridge, the toll increase is just adding insult to injury.
Tolls for commercial vehicles are also going up.
