Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run sparked by a teenage fight that even involved throwing rocks.
Police say the Clarkstown South and Nanuet teens met up at Lake Nanuet Park Sunday night. Police say 18-year-old high school senior Brett Vasquez hit another 18-year-old with a Nissan, leaving the boy with a broken leg.
The victim was taken to the hospital and Vasquez was arrested later in the evening when officers found his vehicle in New City. Vasquez was arraigned on a charge of leaving the scene of a serious accident and released Monday morning.
Clarkstown police say the investigation is continuing. They add that Vasquez may have been trying to avoid getting hit by rocks during the brawl, but the charge stands for now.
Teens who were involved in the fight didn't want to appear on camera for fear of retaliation.
