Police: Teens arrested for trespassing on new Tappan Zee Bridge

Three teens who sneaked onto the new Tappan Zee Bridge and posted video of themselves on YouTube have been arrested, according to state police.
The video, which was posted nearly two weeks ago by a YouTube account called Jeppy, shows the three teens documenting their mission to sneak onto the new bridge.
The video is more than nine minutes long and shows the three driving to Tarrytown, then sneaking through a hole in a fence to get up on the new bridge sometime around 4 a.m. on July 12. The teen captured video entering one of the bridge’s towers and also got dangerously close to the edge. Finally, they were spotted by security and can be seen running away.
State police say they became aware of the video last month and arrested the teens on criminal trespassing charges.  Due to their ages, their names and addresses have not been released.
Meanwhile, the new bridge is set to open in two weeks. The plan is that the Thruway Authority and Tappan Zee Constructors will shift four lanes of Rockland-bound traffic to the new bridge during the overnight hours on Friday, Aug. 25, into Saturday morning, Aug. 26.
