TOR buses roll out high-tech fare boxes

NYACK - On Monday, there will be a faster, more convenient, way to get around Rockland.

New electronic fare boxes are being installed on Transport of Rockland and the Tappan ZeeExpress lines.

Riders can choose to pay with coins, paper bills or an electronic fare card. If you don't have exact change the fare box will issue an electronic change card that riders can use for future trips.

The new fare boxes cost more than a million dollars with much of the funds coming from the federal and state.

Riders can begin using them on Monday.
