A car was struck by a train in Mineola and burst into flames, according to Nassau police.

The Long Island Rail Road said the collision happened at 7:50 p.m. and that there were no injuries.

A non-passenger train struck a car at the Willis Avenue crossing, according to the LIRR. The railroad said the car stalled on the tracks and that the driver was able to safely exit the car before impact. A nearby building also caught fire.

The Long Island Rail Road suspended service on the Huntington/Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma and Oyster Bay branches east of Mineola in both directions. It advised riders to instead use the Babylon, Hempstead, Montauk and Port Washington branches and said it would be "several hours before service can be restored."

Due to extensive damage, there was limited service on the Oyster Bay, Port Jeff, and Ronkonkoma branches through the night. 

LIRR says the train schedule has since gone back to normal.
