The trial for a Walden man accused of abandoning his two dogs got under way Wednesday.
Michael Maziello is accused of leaving his dogs alone at his Pleasant Avenue home without food or proper shelter and with only rainwater for drinking. Prosecutors say Maziello left the dogs alone for more than a week.
Maziello was arrested in November. His two dogs, Luigi and Maxine, have been at the Humane Society of Walden since his arrest.
The trial will resume Friday. Maziello?s ex-girlfriend is expected to testify that while no one was living in the home, people were stopping by to feed the animals.
