A Turn To Tara probe reveals more than 1,000 Westchester homeowners who filed claims against Con Edison for their spoiled groceries and medication during the storms have received denial letters or are still waiting for payment three months later.
Con Ed told Mark Wolfson, of White Plains, that he was initially denied because the power outage on his block did not last for more than three days.  He says he sat in the dark for more than a week.
"The problem was the Con Ed website was so insufficient, they would show no outages in certain areas. We would keep reporting it, and it would still say no record," he says.
News 12 began investigating after receiving Wolfson’s email and discovered about 1,100 other homeowners in a similar situation.
Con Ed, embroiled in controversy over its handling of the back-to-back storms, told News 12 that reimbursements are continuing to be made.
It says it paid out roughly $5,900 to date, which now includes Wolfson.
Con Ed tells News 12 it has re-examined some of the claims it initially denied and has decided not to dispute the time frame.
