Volunteers crossing guards are needed in West Nyack to help pregnant snapping turtles lay their eggs.
Snapping turtles will be migrating across the Western Highway, and officials are looking for help in getting them through the road safely.
The group has built nesting mounds and temporary fences to try and stop the turtles from entering the roadways.
Any resident driving in the area is urged to slow down and be on the lookout for turtles.
