Two teens are recovering from injuries incurred when the ATV they were riding crashed in Stony Point.
Police say a 15-year-old Stony Point boy was driving without a helmet and a 14-year-old Garnerville girl was on the back of the vehicle when it crashed on Cedar Flats Road. It happened around 4 p.m. Sunday.
Police say the 15-year-old, who was too young to be driving the vehicle, didn?t see a van coming in the opposite direction until it was too late. The two teens bounced off the side of the van, spun and hit a tree.
The girl was rushed to Westchester Medical Center. Police say she suffered a deep wound on her face and internal injuries. The boy was taken to Nyack Hospital with a broken arm.
Police say the ATV they were riding wasn't designed for more than one passenger and that the two teens are very lucky to be alive.
