Two Westchester schools named in shocking state report on violence

A new report from the state comptroller found that a number of schools, including two in Westchester, fail to report violent incidents.
According to State Comptroller Alan Hevesi's report, out of 15 schools surveyed, White Plains School District is the third worst when it comes to reporting cases of violence. The district reported 22 cases to the state education department for the 2003-2004 school year. But the report showed there were actually 311 violent incidents, including assault, intimidation and sexual assault.
In addition to White Plains, the report also named Ardsley High School. Out of 106 incidents, Hevesi found that 100 were never reported.
State Education Commissioner Richard Mills says his department is working on improving the way data is collected.
