Unlicensed driver, passenger ticketed in HV crash
Police in Spring Valley say that a driving lesson between two unlicensed individuals is to blame for a morning crash that knocked down power lines and toppled a fire hydrant and utility pole.
The female driver was rounding a corner on Zeissner Lane around 9:30 a.m. yesterday when she apparently panicked and stepped on the gas instead of the brake.
The car slammed into a utility pole, knocking down a transformer and sending live wires into the street. Power was knocked out to four nearby homes, but crews are on scene making the necessary repairs.
No one was injured in the crash, but both the passenger and driver received numerous traffic violations.
