Urban League of Westchester celebrates 100 years
It was a celebration 100 years in the making for the Urban League of Westchester County.
The historic civil rights organization held its centennial event Friday at the Marriott Hotel in Tarrytown, and honored three people in the process.
They included business owner Eric Smith, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, and Grammy-winning singer and Yonkers native Mary J. Blige.
Marc Morial, the head of the National Urban League, served as keynote speaker for the centennial luncheon.
Officials say the future of the organization is bright and they are looking forward to another 100 years.
