US nears 8 million cases of coronavirus

Johns Hopkins University says the United States now has more than 7.7 million confirmed cases, the most in the world.

The U.S. continues to report tens of thousands of new coronavirus cases every day.              
There were at least 44,000 new cases reported Sunday, according to Johns Hopkins University.
There were also 398 virus-related deaths. The U.S. now has more than 7.7 million confirmed cases, the most in the world.
More than 214,000 people have died.
More than half of U.S. states are seeing increases in new cases, with five states reporting a jump of more than 50% in one week.
