On the one-year anniversary of the release of the convicted Lockerbie bomber, U.S. officials are renewing their calls for a probe into the early release.

Abdel Baset al-Megrahi was released from jail on compassionate grounds after serving eight years of a 27-year sentence for the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. The attack killed 270 people, including seven from the Hudson Valley.

President Barack Obama asked Libyan officials who convicted al-Megrahi to return him to prison last week. New Jersey's U.S. senators also held a news conference seeking an investigation into the early release.
