Prosecutors have filed a federal discrimination lawsuit against the owners of Burgundy Gardens apartments in Valley Cottage.
In the suit, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York alleges that the owners of the apartments engaged in racial discrimination by quoting higher rent prices to prospective African-American tenants.
The suit says that the alleged discrimination has been taking place since August of 2007 in violation of the Fair Housing Act, which requires landlords to offer equal housing options to all prospective tenants.
Employees at the apartments, located on Brookridge Drive, refused to talk to News 12 Hudson Valley.
