A Gulf War Marine veteran, Tom Dilberti, has spent the past two weeks kayaking to raise money for a good cause.
The trip, which started in Port Jefferson, N.Y. and will end in Galveston, TX, will help raise money for other Marines who are currently suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome through the Wounded Warriors Project.
Having struggled with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome since he returned from war 20 years ago, Dilberti says the trip will also help him heal.
The trip will take about four months to complete and will take Dilberti through what is known as the inner part of the 'Great Loop.' The route starts up the Hudson River through the Erie Canal and then down the Mississippi River.
Dilberti has so far raised $10,000 and hopes to have at least $100,000 by the time he reaches Texas.
