The Veterans Remembrance Service was held Friday afternoon at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
The pre-Memorial Day event remembers those who defended and died for the United States.
Two Civil War veterans interred at Kensico were awarded the Medal of Honor.
Letters of family members from World War II were also read during the somber event.
The Valhalla cemetery also served as a reminder of the 18 Westchester lives that were lost in Afghanistan and Iraq.
