The driver convicted of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in an Orange County crash that took the life of his passenger was sentenced Tuesday.

Adam Moghaddam, 20, of Florida, was sentenced to two and a half to 10 years in prison almost nine months after he was involved in a crash that claimed the life of 20-year-old Richard Rudy of Warwick. Moghaddam was drag racing when he crashed into another car. Rudy?s father, who was in court at the sentencing, embraced Moghaddam and said he forgave him. Moghaddam?s father also hugged the Rudy family.

Moghaddam said he was sorry and that he looks forward to the day he can sit down with the Rudys and help them with the healing process.
